A 4-year-old Australian girl has gotten trapped inside a claw machine while trying to steal teddy bears for her sisters.
Melanie Pike said her daughter Savannah informed her that her other daughter Poppy was trapped inside the prize machine at an Airlie Beach fun fair. Poppy was apparently dared to climb inside and pass out all of the teddy bears.
Melanie said that when she first saw Poppy inside the claw machine, she couldn’t help but laugh. While she was inside her sisters were putting in requests for which teddies they wanted.
“My partner was shocked but I just started laughing,” Melanie told Channel 7 news. “How are we going to get you out?” Melanie said she asked Poppy.
Poppy’s mum said she wasn’t too worried because she knew her partner would be able to help their daughter climb out.
“My partner is a chippy (carpenter) by trade so I knew he would get her out,” she said, adding: “He’s the true hero. I was just laughing and filming.”
Melanie said that her partner had Poppy crouched down and extend her legs forward as she escaped through the hole. He then lectured her about stealing as she wriggled out.
“There you go,” he says in the video as Poppy emerged. “That’s why you don’t steal out of vending machines.”
However, Melanie added that the venue was cooperative and offered to help, but Poppy was out of the claw machine before they were able to.
“They had the key and were on the way so we weren’t to stressed,” she said.
The hilarious clip has gone viral on social media, and Poppy has been receiving a lot of attention as a result.
“She’s telling all her friends she’s famous now,” Melanie said.
“It’ll be a great funny story for her 18th birthday.”
