Police have confirmed a second man has died following the Melbourne nightclub attack last Saturday night.
The attack took place outside Prahran’s Love Machine nightclub in the early hours of Sunday morning. The second fatality of this attack,
Richard Arow, aged 28, from Maidstone, has been remembered on social media for his “everlasting smile”, as police continue the investigation into the people and motives behind the drive-by attack.
According to Victoria Police reports, Mr Arow died in hospital last night. Police officials believe at last five people were hit by shots fired from a car directly into the crowd, outside the inner-south nightclub, around 3:10am on Sunday morning.
A security staffer of the venue, Aaron Khalid Osmani, aged 37, succumbed to his injuries not long after falling victim to gunshot wounds.
Mr Arow had no affiliation to the club, but he was lining up to get inside the venue. Tributes are flowing for Arow, with his local football club taking to social media to support him. “Richard was held in high regard, his personality and everlasting smile is something we will always remember,” a social media post reads.
The club have also confirmed a minute’s silence will be held at their next game. “Westside Strikers, in a show of solidarity and support, will observe a minutes silence and black arm bands at our next game.”
West Strikers president Sam Raniolo also took to Facebook to commemorate Arow. “Richard, you were not only a leader on the park who gave 110% but a true gentleman off it. You will be sadly missed. R.I.P My friend,” Raniolo’s post says.
The anti-bikie taskforce Echo, and the Victoria Police homicide squad are still working to determine the motivation behind the shooting. However, they believe it was a targeted attack.
Venue operators are understood to be cooperating with police.
