In an unexpected reality TV show crossover, it’s been revealed that a participant on season 8 of MAFS used to date one of the stars of Netflix reality show Byron Baes.

Gossip podcast So Dramatic! undercovered the bombshell, reporting that Johnny Balbuziente from MAFS and Saskia Wotton from Byron Baes dated “around five years ago”.

“I went to school with Saskia from Byron Baes,” they said. “She used to date Johnny from season eight of MAFS, five or so years ago,” a source revealed to the podcast.

The publication also shared five photos of the couple, which you can check out here.

Johnny was paired with Kerry Knight on the 2021 season of MAFS, and the pair entered as intruders. Johnny and Kerry quickly became fan favourites, and they are one of the few couples from the franchise who are still together now. The pair moved in together shortly after filming wrapped in 2020, and have lived together ever since.

Meanwhile, Byron Baes premiered on Netflix earlier this year and the show followers around a bunch of locally-based influencers. Saskia starred in the series alongside her boyfriend, Dave Frim.

Other stars on the show included Nathan Favro, Jade Kevin Foster, Hannah Brauer, Alex Reid, Elias Chigros and Jessica Bell.

Nathan, who starred on Ali Oetjen’s season of The Bachelor, has previously revealed that the cast was paid well for their time on the reality show.

“We were paid handsomely, Netflix look after you,” he said.

Favro also told the publication that the show wasn’t scripted, but producers would give them “creative direction”.

“It was more a case of we were all a team and we were all working together and so they gave us a lot of creative direction, they wanted to actually tell the story of our lives and what we are doing,” Favro added.
