Though she’s only been in the MAFS experiment for a little over a week, model Evelyn has already commanded a lot of attention, both for her looks and for her strong demeanor.

However, the reality star has opened up about experiencing racial profiling throughout her life.

“People have this assumption of me that I really have it all together, that there’s a lot of guys after me and that it’s just easy for some strange reason,” Evelyn told Refinery29 Australia. “But I do have times when I feel really lonely at home.”

Evelyn, who is of mixed Western, Chinese, and Vietnamese descent explained that people make speculations about her based on her ethnicity.

“Western culture has this stereotype of what they think Asian women are or what they shouldn’t be. People make assumptions that Asian women are naturally submissive, and I’ve gotten that a lot in my life,” she explains.

The model told the publication that she’s received comments such as “you’re quite loud for an Asian” or “you’re crazy for an Asian” or “you’re quite hot for an Asian”.

She said that the judgment also appears in her professional life, where she said that she doesn’t feel like she ticks either box, when it comes to ethnicity, because of her mixed race.
“When I would get casting calls for Asian women, I would get told, ‘She’s not Asian enough’,'” says Ellis.
“Within Asian culture, I’m too white. But then to western culture, I’m [too] Asian.”
Evelyn has been one of the most polarizing cast members in this season of MAFS, and she has been praised on social media for taking a stand against groom Dan.
In recent MAFS events, Dan, who is paired with Sandy on the show, was overheard trash-talking his wife when fellow groom Rupert “butt-dialled” his wife Evelyn during a boy’s night out. She confronted Dan about the call in last night’s episode, and he repeatedly denied the events.
This morning, Evelyn made the bombshell claim that groom Dan Hunjas had “three girlfriends” while filming the show with ‘wife’ Sandy.
