Disney has just dropped the first trailer for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings – the latest addition to the blockbuster MCU.

Remember when Marvel was releasing superhero movies every six months? Well the global pandemic really messed all of Disney’s shit up, but we finally seem to be back on track now.

Enter Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. The latest entry in the beloved MCU is breaking major ground by casting Simu Liu as Marvel’s first Asian leading man. He’ll play the titular Shang-Chi.

The upcoming blockbuster should also have a bit of local charm to it considering much of the production was shot at Fox Studios and around areas of Western Sydney.

Watch the trailer for ‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’ below:

Without getting too deep into nerdy/spoiler-filled comic book lore, the movie looks set to follow Shang-Chi – a skilled martial artist who was trained by his father to be a deadly assassin from a young age. Sounds like a healthy relationship to us.

Eventually Shang-Chi decides he’s not about that life and choofs off to San Francisco to try to become more of an every-man. If the trailer is anything to go by, eventually the proverbial shit hits the fan and the mystical Ten Rings come into play.

The film also stars Awkwafina as a bit of old-fashioned comic relief.

Pending any pandemic-based delays, the film is set to release on September 3 in all major cinemas which is all around bloody exciting. Unlike the recent developments of Black Widow, Disney seems adamant in avoiding a simultaneous release on Disney+.

Between this, The Eternals and that new Loki TV show, things are about to get interesting. Buckle up.
