The internet is mostly horrible and I spend a lot of time thinking about how badly I desire an internet apocalypse where the entire thing crashes and can never be restored. But sometimes, sometimes I stumble across something that makes me question whether the world wide web is such a dreadful place after all.

Enter @MascotSilence – a Twitter account dedicated to chronicling photos of mascots observing a minute silence. That’s it, that’s the joke. Big, hefty, mascots bowing their head in respect, honouring those who have fallen. It’s simply gorgeous fun.

Observe, the solemn seagull stoically acknowledges those that have fought for his freedom.

Ah, the Wimbledon Womble once again proving itself to be a subservient beast.

So there you have it folks, mascots in mourning.
