It’s been a long time coming but we’re finally getting some more Master of None after Netflix announced season three will premiere in May.
According to Consequence of Sound, Aziz Ansari’s (also known as a successful stand-up comic and Parks and Recreation’s sleazeball dreamer Tom Haverford) dramedy is included on the list of new TV shows and movies heading to Netflix’s streaming schedule this May.
The show stars Ansari in the lead role of Dev Shah, a 30-something actor as he navigates his career and romantic life. Co-created by Ansari alongside Alan Yang, it was delightfully charming and offbeat, while also offering insightful commentary on the issue of Indian representation on TV.
Despite being so acclaimed, Ansari has certainly kept us all waiting for more of the show – it’s now four years since season two.
A plot description is unavailable yet but expect more gallivanting around. Season two saw Dev live in Italy (and eat an extraordinary amount of envy-inducing pasta) and filming for the new season took place in London last year. Maybe Dev’s going to try his luck as an actor in the West End? Maybe he just really likes the English accent?
It will mark a return to mainstream territory for Ansari after he was accused of misconduct in 2018 after a woman anonymously published her story on babe.com. She claimed that Ansari was sexually aggressive and ignored “verbal and non-verbal cues to indicate how uncomfortable and distressed she was.”
Ansari was quick to reply with a public apology, saying, “It was true that everything did seem okay to me, so when I heard that it was not the case for her, I was surprised and concerned. I took her words to heart and responded privately after taking the time to process what she had said.”

Netflix continued to back the star in the aftermath though. They gave him a stand-up special in 2019, where Ansari discussed his humiliation and embarrassment after the woman’s story came out.
As for Master of None, we don’t yet have an exact date for the premiere. It could be a week, it could be three, so keep an eye out for it!
