Matt Damon is in Brisbane filming the new Thor movie, but made a pit stop at a domestic violence charity event Safe Haven with his wife.
The actor has been in the shores of Oz, and has already hung with his fellow Thor movie posse squad in Byron Bay during a recent white party. Of course it was hosted by the Hemsworths.
On top of that, he’s got a penchant for a good ol’ Aussie roadtrip, having surprised locals at Jugiong, located in the Hilltops region of NSW.
Turns out Damon’s also got a philanthropic side to his Aussie stay as well.
According to a reddit post, he dropped by an event by Safe Haven on Friday, which provides counselling, support, accommodation and other services to women fleeing domestic abuse and coercive control. It was the last issue that Damon and his wife were reported to be interested in learning more, according the Courier Mail.
Reddit user iamretnuh, who is the daughter of charity founder Denise Hunter, recalled the event at the Calile Hotel in Fortitude Valley.
“My mum founded a charity fighting domestic violence. During a fundraising lunch Matt Damon dropped in and donated $10,000.”

“He was genuinely interested in the topic. He not only donated but stayed for the entire event with his wife and child.”
Jaeneen Cunningham, executive director of the organisation and pictured above, said that Damon “took the time to call in and have the lunch, and he was fantastic.”
“I spoke to his wife and she said it was a fantastic thing that we were doing and they were more educated after the event.”
The event raised a total of $169,000 for the organisation, which is more important than ever given the recent deaths of women like Hannah Clarke and Kelly Wilkinson.
Marvel’s Thor: Love and Thunder arrives February 11, 2022, and Damon will reprise his cameo role from the 2017 Thor installment, Thor: Ragnarok.
Good will Damon.
