Gelato Messina is bidding adieu to summer with one last blowout, the gelato kings have announced that their hallowed Iced VoVo ice cream tub will return.

If you haven’t had the privilege in indulging in their Iced VoVo tub, prepare thyself for Marie Antoinette-level opulence. Built on a body of rich coconut gelato, the tub is embellished with nuggets of shortbread biscuit, marshmallow, a red carpet of raspberry puree and topped with desiccated coconut. It’s a gilded take on a staple Aussie favourite.

For $30 you can score yourself a 1 Litre tub of this life-changing dessert. They’ll be available to nqab at all Messina stores (save The Star and Coolangatta) from January 18th.

This isn’t the kind of dessert that you can acquire on a whim, you’ll have to preorder the beast here and choose a pick up day and time between Jan 22 and 24.

The humble Iced VoVo has really seen a renaissance over these past few years. Its inimitable flavour profile has been reimagined as a lamington, a chocolate bar and a Peter’s ice-cream sandwich.

The Gelato Messina x Iced VoVo collaboration was born in the throes of lockdown. Messina collaborated with Esteemed Surry Hills restaurant Firedoor as part of their pandemic-influenced store, Fireshop, back in June.

The online market that provided Firedoor fiends with ‘almost-ready’ dishes, fresh produce and specialty goods curated by head chef Lennox Hastie and the rest of the Firedoor team.
