Miley Cyrus’ dad Billy Rae Cyrus is reportedly engaged to a young Australian singer just months after divorcing his ex-wife of 28-years, Tish Cyrus.

According to The Sun, Bille Rae Cyrus recently popped the question to Sydney singer Firerose, who he met last year when they collaborated on a song called ‘New Day’.

“Billy is happier than he has been in a long time with Firerose,” a source told the publication.

“There had been problems in his marriage for a while. He and Tish have been on and off for the best part of a decade, but things had been over for some time before the announcement in April.”

Tish Cyrus and Bille Rae Cyrus are Miley Cyrus’ parents and got married in 1993, a year after she was born. The couple has had an on-and-off relationship over the years and filed for divorce three times, but previous attempts have been withdrawn. They officially divorced earlier this year on the basis of “irreconcilable differences”.

Earlier this month, Miley and her father unfollowed each other on Instagram. The move coincides with The Sun’s source who claimed that Bille Rae Cyrus’ new relationship with Firerose caused tension within the family.

“Not everyone sees his decision to move on so quickly in the same light though,” the insider said.

“There has been some tension with Miley, which is sad to see, but everyone is hopeful that they will be able to get over it soon enough. Thankfully his other kids do not have an issue with him and he has just collaborated with his youngest, Noah, on a song.”

Firerose, who moved from Australia to Los Angeles when she was 19, has posted a string of pictures with Billy Rae Cyrus. and was recently pictured with a large diamond ring on her engagement finger.  Billy Rae Cyrus shared a photo with the singer two weeks ago that shows the ring, and captioned the pic; “Birds of a feather”.
