Multiple people have reportedly been stabbed in Sydney CBD by a man wearing a balaclava.
Police on the scene at King Street and Clarence Street have advised people to avoid the area. Traffic control has also warned drivers that King St is now closed due to police operations.
“Police operation King & Clarence St, Sydney CBD. Please avoid the area. More to come…” wrote the NSW Police Force on Twitter.
Emergency services are currently responding and treating multiple victims to the seemingly random assault.

Witnesses reported seeing multiple police cars and ambulances arriving on the scene.
According to some sources, the man was wildly running through the streets with a knife, and only stabbed a single elderly woman.
Other sources confirm that around seven individuals have been injured due to the attack.
The man was tackled by members of the public, who key witness Jack Huddo claims were “grabbing chairs and poles” to ensure the attacker did not hurt any more innocent people.
Everyone I was with are safe and thanks to police, fire fighters and the general public (one I know was ex military) old mate was caught! No idea how many people were hurt, hopefully no one too bad!

Jack Huddo, key witness to the event, wrote on Twitter:
“A random dude just started stabbing people in the city right outside where we were having lunch. I saw people running so I ran towards him with a few other guys.”
“He ran all the way back to near my work where a lot of others had cornered him for the police,” he said.
Ben Kimber on Twitter wrote that he saw “cops cars, ambos, cop bikes all converging on York St”.
“I’ve even seen three undercover cop cars pull up and blokes running from them down the street,” he said.
