Combining meticulous handcraft with a fertile, childlike imagination, Mylyn Nyugen’s upcoming exhibition devotes her attention to a world of bugs and insects.

Handmade, hand-painted and individually placed, Nyugen’s pieces present microscopic worlds of migrating paper bugs through whimsical narrative and strict attention to detail. Nguyen has exhibited internationally twice with Brenda May Gallery at Art Stage, Singapore, taking a solo installation of 1,000 handcrafted bees in 2014.Her upcoming show will featurea parade of 111 insects traversing the floor of the gallery and up the wall.

Mylyn Nguyen’s exhibition will show at Brenda May Gallery in Waterloo, Tuesday August 12 – Saturday September 6.
