Ever since it was announced that Neighbours alum Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan would be returning to the show for its finale, there has been a lot of buzz about what exactly would happen in the episode.
Now – thanks to an alleged leaked script – fans have an idea of what to expect. However, fans who were looking forward to an update on what Minogue and Donovan’s characters have been up to may be sorely disappointed.
“There’s a leaked script that’s been going around (which may well be a decoy) that suggests Charlene and Scott don’t get much of a storyline but do get the final scene of the series. The two of them pull up in a car, step out and bring the curtain down with the line: “We’re home,” PopBitch email newsletter revealed.
Minogue played Charlene Robinson on the soap from 1986 until 1988 and Donovan played 1986 until 1989. Their characters dated through their time on the soap and got married in an episode that went to air in 1987. After getting married, the characters left Erinsborough to move to Brisbane.
Jason Herbison, executive producer of Neighbours, said Kylie and Jason were “the ultimate Neighbours couple and it would not feel right to end the show without them.”
“We are thrilled that Jason and Kylie have come home to play a very special part in our series finale. It has been an emotional experience for them, for us, and I’m sure it will be for our viewers,” he said.
Minogue recently teased her return to this show by sharing a close-up photo of a Neighbours script to her story in May.

Neighbours first aired in 1985, centring on the fictional community of Ramsay Street in Melbourne. Fans were devastated earlier this year when the show’s demise was confirmed as it was dropped by its broadcaster.
