Netflix Australia subscriptions are copping a price increase and thank the almighty powers that be that my ex-boyfriend hasn’t yet kicked me off his account.
The price increase starts today, surprise! It will, only affect the premium subscription plan, increasing the price from $17.99 to $19.99 per month. It might be time to hit up whoever is leeching off your account and request that they pitch in, or not, I probably wouldn’t.
“We change our prices from time to time and continue to invest heavily to grow in the depth and breadth of our content such as new shows like The Politician, Unbelievable, well-loved series like Stranger Things, The Good Place, and The Crown, as well as improvements to our products,” a Netflix spokesperson shared, addressing the changes.
This is the first pay rise Aussie users have copped since June 2017, when the basic, standard and premium plans went up by $1, $2, and $3 individually.
It’s a small price to pay for all the hours of joy one receives when painfully, indecisively scrolling through, trying to figure out what to watch before giving up and succumbing to the warm embrace of Peep Show for the fifteen-millionth time. Also, when you consider how much we used to have to fork out for the archaic Foxtel, Netflix pretty much seems free.
