Netflix has dropped the first trailer for its Selena Quintanilla biographical drama, Selena: The Series, coming December 4th.
Just as we head for the closing of the year, Netflix has sent expectations soaring by dropping the trailer for its highly anticipated series, Selena: The Series. Based on the life of the late singer Selena Quintanilla, the series chronicles her rise to fame and the consequent struggles she faced reconciling her growing popularity and personal desires.
Christian Serratos fills in the shoes of the legendary singer, who remains one of Latin music’s most influential figures.
The series also stars Ricardo Chavira as Selena’s father Abraham, Seidy Lopez as her mother Marcella, Noemi Gonzalez as her sister Suzette, and Gabriel Chavarria as her brother A.B. Madison Taylor Baez takes on the role of a younger Selena.
Late last year, Netflix unveiled the first look for the series — a short video that showed Christian Serratos as the singer, dressed for a performance and seamlessly transitioning from her living room floor to the stage.
At the time, viewers argued the extent to which the singer’s tumultuous life would be dramatized, but the chatter was put to rest after Netflix revealed that the show was developed with heavy inputs from the Quintanilla family. They also serve as executive producers.
In a statement accompanying the trailer announcement, Suzette Quintanilla, Selena’s sister, said: “With this series, viewers will finally get the full history of Selena, our family, and the impact she has had on all of our lives.”
