A familiar face has been announced as the new host of FWAW, and she certainly has some experience when it comes to dating farmers.

Sam Armytage will be stepping up into the hosting role, and it’s likely she’ll be drawing some experience from her relationship with her horse-breeder husband Richard Lavender.

Armytage will step up from her guest host role and take over the main hosting role from long-time presenter Natalie Gruzlewski, who will remain on as a co-host.

“They’re both in the show still. [Previously] Nat was front and centre and Sam was advising on dates,” Brook Hall, Director of Scheduling for Channel 7  told TV Tonight.

“But if I’m being honest, they’ve kind of slightly flipped. Nat has Nat’s Getaway so she’ll be co-host, she’ll be opening the start. It’s more blended, with one front and one appearing. But yes, Samantha Armytage is taking more centre stage.”

Armytage actually grew up on a farm before moving to Bondi and having a successful career in TV. She met horse breeder Richard Lavender in 2019, and the couple got married on New Year’s Eve 2020. The following year the newlyweds moved to live at his rural NSW property.

Armytage and Lavender opened up about their relationship on an episode of FWAW that screened last year.

“The moment I first saw Sammy I thought ‘there’s my girl’,” Richard said on the show.

“We were very lucky weren’t we, to find each other?” Armytage told him.

“In my experience, it’s really nice when you move to the country, which I did last year, for love,” Armytage told contestants in the same episode.

“You’ve really got to be a team with a farmer. It’s more than just the average job in the city. It’s a lifestyle.”

The trailer for the new season of FWAW dropped on Monday, and introduced viewers to the five new farmers looking for love: Brad, 32, David, 29, Brenton, 26, Matt, 23, and Andrew, 41.
