It’s about time for a new Em record, considering he’s been all quiet on that front since his 2013 Marshall Mathers LP 2, and while there’s been no official word from his camp as of yet, a slip of the tongue from a credible source may have just ruined the surprise.

As Uproxx reports, director Allen Hughes is fresh off making HBO doco The Defiant Ones with Dr Dre and Jimmy Iovine, and in an interview to promote it has mentioned that a new Eminem album is in the works, with Dre at the helm.

“Dre still records,” Hughes said to Uproxx. “People don’t know this: Dre records every day. Literally, he’s in there recording songs every day. He’s like Picasso in that way. He’s always painting. Right now he’s producing, in the 11th hour, a track for Eminem’s latest album. So Dre’s still real active in music, you know? But I hear what you’re saying. It’s the truth.”

The phrase “in the 11th hour” might also suggest that the record is almost complete, despite this being the first and only mention of a new album so far. As far as leaks go, it’s a believable one for sure, and we could be in for that new album from the Rap God sooner than we think.

Em’s latest solo release, ‘Campaign Speech’, was released last year, and you can give it a listen below.
