The 15-year-old son of Australian rock icon Nick Cave, Arthur, has died after falling fromthe top of chalk cliffs at Brighton.
Arthur Cave was airlifted to theRoyal Sussex County Hospital on Tuesday evening after walkers found him on the coastal path at the foot of the Ovingdean Gap. Although members of the public attempted to give him first aid, he later died of his injuries in hospital. Police are not treating the death as suspicious but the coroner is investigating the circumstances.
The Cave family briefly visited the scene of the tragedy to pay tribute to Arthur. His twin brother Earl left a note alongside the other tributes, which read, “Arthur – I love you so much. You were a joy to be around and I will never forget you. You were the best brother I could ever ask for. Earl x”. Arthur’s schoolmates also came to lay flowers at the spot near where the teenager was found.
Arthur’s mother, Susie, issued a statement through the Sussex Police later that day: “Our son Arthur died on Tuesday evening. He was our beautiful, happy loving boy. We ask that we be given the privacy our family needs to grieve at this difficult time.”
