Vanessa Bryant has taken to Instagram to express her outrage directed at Nike, for allegedly releasing an unauthorised pair of shoes that she designed.

The shoes known as the “MAMBACITA” were designed by Vanessa Bryant herself, with the intention being to honour her daughter Gianna, in an exclusive black and white colourway of Kobe’s Byrant’s shoes, the Kobe 6 Protro.

She said, “I picked the colours in honor of her uniform, the number 2 she wore just like her uniform, the inside pattern, Kobe and Gigi on the back in gold instead of Kobe’s signature, the inside shoe details (the butterfly, wings, halo), etc. the MAMBACITA shoes are NOT approved for sale.”

Bryant continued, “I wanted it to be sold to honor my daughter will ALL of the proceeds benefitting our @mambamambacitasports foundation but I did not re-sign the Nike contract and decided not to sell these shoes. (The MAMBACITA shoes were not approved to be made in the first place).”

“Nike has NOT sent any of these pairs to me and my girls. I do not know how someone else has their hands on shoes I designed in honour of my daughter, Gig and we don’t. I hope these shoes did not get sold. @nike.”

As per the post’s caption, Bryant draws our attention to the fact that it looks as though there are people who have the shoe in their possession. She said, “If someone can share how they have these shoes in their possession, that would be great because my daughters and I don’t have any of Gigi’s MAMBACITA shoes.”

Last month it was announced that Kobe Bryant’s sneaker partnership with Nike would come to an end.

Nike is yet to comment on the situation. For more on this topic, follow the Fashion & Beauty Observer.
