A 9-year-old girl was injured in Yellowstone National Park on Monday after a bull bison charged her and sent her flying into the air.

The girl was with a group of 50 people near Observation Point Trail in the park’s Old Faithful Geyser area when the incident took place. The group were standing just metres away from the Bull when it charged.

She was taken to the Old Faithful Lodge by her family, where she was treated by the park’s emergency medical team — she has since been released from the clinic.

The extent of the girl’s injuries has not been disclosed by the park.

Footage of the incident has surfaced on Twitter courtesy of Perfectly Cut Screams. The video shows the Bison peacefully chowing down on some grass, before deciding to launch into the crowd of bystanders. Unfortunately, the little girl’s flight-or-fight response hadn’t fully developed and she ran directly into the Bison’s warpath and she was launched into the stratosphere. It’s absolutely insane footage, check it out below.

This isn’t the first case of animals going batshit in July.  Earlier this month, an “exotic” bird was rescued from a highway in the UK. However, local vets determined that the bird was not exotic at all, but rather a seagull that had gotten itself mixed up in turmeric.

In other avian-related hospital drama, a man ordered an Uber for an injured baby bird he found, because he was too lit up to drive a vehicle himself.

If that doesn’t satiate your appetite for nutso animal news, check out this footage that has emerged of a cockatoo in South Africa that has trained itself to bark like a guard dog.
