Noah Schnapp, who plays closeted gay teenager Will Byers on Stranger Things, has officially come out as gay on TikTok.

The 18-year-old actor opened up about his sexuality to his fans in a short video on the platform.

He wrote in text on the clip, “When I finally told my friends and family I was gay after being scared in the closet for 18 years and all they said was ‘we know'”. Noah can be seen mouthing the popular TikTok sound bite, “you know what it never was? that serious. It was never that serious, quite frankly it will never be that serious”.

The Stranger Things actor captioned the post: “I guess I’m more similar to will than I thought,” alluding to his gay character on the show.

Although the TikTok video was only shared three hours ago, it’s already racked up over 3 million likes and 170,000 comments.

Back in July, Schnapp confirmed to Variety that his Stranger Things character Will is gay and in love with his best friend Mike.

“It was always kind of there, but you never really knew, is it just him growing up slower than his friends?” Schnapp said. “Now that he’s gotten older, they made it a very real, obvious thing. Now it’s 100% clear that he is gay and he does love Mike,” he told the publication.
