The promise of technology has always been that it will make our lives easier, better, and help to free up time which can be spent on other, more pleasing life matters.

Of course, with the freedom of having the entire world’s collective information available in our pockets at all times comes the crushing sense that we are forever missing out, forever on call, forever comparing our lives with those of others, forever checking in, forever curating personal narratives that aim to make our existence seem more exciting than the truth of the matter – that we are all craned over tiny screens, distracting ourselves from both life and death as we swipe and push and add and check app after app in a pointless, ceaseless, brain-numbing cycle.

If only there was a phone which allowed us to keep in contact, without all the other bells and whistles. Imagine such a beast!

Enter: the Nokia 3310.

This is not a drill. Nokia will be reintroducing the classic 3310 brick phone next month, in 3G. It has enjoyed a few updates since its halcyon days: it now comes with a 2MP camera, an app store, and in four colours – red, yellow, azure and charcoal

As anyone who owned one of this bad boys back in the day will recall, these things are impossible to destroy, and have an insanely long battery life – two of the biggest issues with the latest smartphones completely solved.

The phone will retail for $89.95, which is roughly what it cost during its peak.

Hopefully there will be an updated version of Snake – the only other technological upgrade we will accept!
