As Carrie Bradshaw put it in an episode of Sex and the City“A closet full of clothes… nothing to wear.” It’s the eternal question.

Carrie wasn’t the first woman to say it back in the ’90s. And she certainly won’t be the last. Particularly as I can vouch that I absolutely have a closet full of clothes and too often am left feeling like I somehow, have nothing to wear.

You know the drill… you’re going out to dinner, on a date, to a concert. You’re standing in front of your closet or your cupboard or whatever it may be – and it’s full of clothes. You begin pulling things out and trying them on. You try on different ensembles of various items and nothing seems to work.

Before you know it, you have an evil as hell pile of clothes sprawled and dumped on your bed, on the floor, or that chair you never get to sit down on ’cause it’s always covered in your shameful pit of ‘unwearable clothes’.

Now you’re stressed and hot and bothered because you’re running out of time and by now you’re probably (definitely) actually going to be late. And at this point, you’ve probably picked out a really similar outfit to what you wore last time. And now you’re thinking, I could have saved myself all of that time and drama and just stuck to wearing a kit I’ve already tried and tested.

As someone who buys clothes often (not overly, but often), I regularly ask myself if I will ever be satisfied with my wardrobe, satisfied enough to never be tempted to continually add to my wardrobe. Or, is that impossible at this point, having been conditioned in the realm of consumerism for too long to turn back?

All I know at this point that is enough is enough and I would really just like to chill and realise that my wardrobe is enough. Actually, it’s MORE than enough. So do we just feel like we have nothing to wear? Or do we actually have nothing to wear. Can anyone relate to that… or is it just me?
