Leichhardt Oval and a number of surrounding grounds will play host to this year’s 2016 Koori Knockout.

Sydney is set for a modern-day corroboree, with theRedfern All Blacks, Australia’s old Aboriginal rugby league club, playing host to the 2016 Koori Knockout. After winning the right following their success in the 2015 event, its coming-back to Redfern represents a return to one of the most historical urban indigenous areas in Australia.

The Koori Knockout is one of the most important Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander events and draws in thousands of supporters, players and officials from around the country. With over $70,000 committed to the event from council grants and sponsorship, the four-day carnival is not only a great advertisment and celebration of top-quality rugby league, but a great chance for people to appreciate and immerse themselves in indigenous culture, which has a long and proud history with the sport.

The NSW Aboriginal Rugby League Knockout kicks off on Friday September 30 and runs through to Monday October 3. You can find out more at their site.
