If you’ve got stacks of cash floating around then you’re in luck, because a Chadwick Boseman NFT is up for auction.

That’s right, an NFT for 3D art of the late Chadwick Boseman is up for grabs, and it’s expected to sell for a cool USD $1.2 million, according to CNET.

The piece that’s up for auction isn’t the only one in existence, however, as each of this year’s Oscar nominees also received the specially made Boseman NFT.

Despite having tragically passed away last year, Boseman was posthumously nominated for the 2021 Best Actor Academy Award for his performance in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom.

Ultimately, Boseman lost to Anthony Hopkins who nabbed the award for his performance in The Father.

Half of the colossal proceeds the NFT is expected to fetch will go to the Colon Cancer Foundation in honour of Boseman, who died of the disease.

“The way to immortalize an artist, is to honor them with art,”  Andrea Oshea, the artist behind the NFT, wrote on Instagram.

“I was tasked to create a tribute NFT for Chadwick Boseman for the Oscars! Bringing this piece to life has been one of my most challenging and rewarded experiences as an artist,” Oshea said.

“Place your bid on @rariblecom & don’t forget, every single bid matters. We are creating history here.”

The trend of selling NFTs has simply exploded in recent months, leading to digital media pieces as surprising as Chris Crocker’s ‘Leave Britney Alone’ video becoming hot property.

While I admit to still not completely understanding what on earth NFTs are, I think we can all appreciate the good cause behind this particular one.
