These days it takes a hell of a lot to implore people to leave the comfort of their warm screens/blankies at home, and the endless cavalcade of cheap/free/easy entertainment options, in order to enter a dark cinema, deal with strangers talking and eating, expensive snack options, and those seats that just won’t stay down.

Sidenote: Once at the cinema, I sat in front of a dude eating sliced devon with the heady confidence of someone who doesn’t mind stinking out an entire complex with cured, slowly-rotting meats of dubious and undetermined origin. Needless to say, it scarred me. I am a different person now.

Considering all that, Palace Central — the newly-opened ten-screen cinema complex at Broadway — are offering up $5 tickets to all sessions for the first week on February in an attempt to lure you away from Netlfix and the subsequent chillaxing that may ensue.

To take advantage of this offer, book online, and maybe don’t use this as a first date option, because a) films are a terrible first date, and b) this is the equivalent of taking someone to Macca’s and using the ‘free burger’ Monopoly tokens to “pay” for it.

Although, you can drink at Palace Central. They frown upon that at McDonald’s.
