The worst kept secret in Hollywood has graced the red carpet premiere of Marvel’s Doctor Strange: In The Multiverse of Madness.

Patrick Stewart, best known to superhero fans as leader of the X-Men, Charles Xavier, has attended the event. After much speculation, this all but confirms Professor X’s role in the film.

Though his voice has been present in the trailers, his appearance up until now had been complete conjecture.

However, with a complicated web of alternate universes, Stewart may not be playing a version of Charles Xavier that we’ve seen before… Especially since he died… Twice… Spoilers?

Another big surprise was the attendance of Hayley Atwell who has previously played Peggy Carter in the Captain America and Avengers films.

Marvel’s animated series What If? Introduced the idea of a universe where Carter had taken on the mantle of Captain America and donned a similar shield with the union jack. In recent trailers, it seems Captain Carter might have to go head-to-head with Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch.

The list of theorised cameos and appearances range from to Ioan Grufford returning as Mr. Fantastic and Tobey Maguire as Spider-Man to Tom Cruise playing a 90’s version of Iron Man.

No matter which rumours turn out to be true, you can expect a wild two hours that uses all of Marvel’s back catalogue.

Doctor Strange: In The Multiverse of Madness stars Benedict Cumberbatch as Dr. Strange, Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Karl Mordo, Benedict Wong as Wong, Xochitl Gomez as America Chavez and Rachel McAdams as Christine Palmer.

And being a Sam Raimi film, you can also expect an appearance from Bruce Campbell.

You can catch a glimpse of Captain Carter in What If?, now streaming on Disney+, alongside all the other Marvel properties that are bound to be caught up in this new film!

Doctor Strange hits theatres 4th June, 2022.
