The return of Big Brother is gathering momentum, with the first edition of the reality show since 2014 dropping a teaser trailer over the weekend.

The cult show is on its way back and will officially hit Channel Seven later in 2020. Big Brother originally appeared on Ten and had an eight-season run from 2001 to 2009, before a brief reboot on Nine from 2012 to 2014.

The trailer has a few big reveals for us, including the fact that Sonia Kruger will be coming across from the last edition of the show as host (I mean, she’s fine we guess, but she’s no Gretel Kileen).

It includes footage of a new-look diary room, within the entire show to be set within a Warehouse in at North head Sanctuary in Manly, NSW.

One of the most exciting parts of the trailer is a brief shot of a room that appears to feature a Ninja Warrior style obstacle, signalling that fan favourite Friday Night Live.

There’s also a brief scene where snow appears in the courtyard of the house.

“I have been watching you, Australia,” says the new voice of Big Brother. “You see, I never went away and now I am ready to play. Welcome to my brand new house.”

The voice also claims that this year will see a “new brand of housemate”. Well, whatever that means, sign us the heck up!

Watch the first official teaser for Big Brother 2020:

Last month Kruger revealed that the ages of this year’s Big Brother housemates would be pretty wide-ranging, telling The Morning Show that the youngest contestant is 21 and the oldest is 61-years old!

She also confirmed that the show was also forced to suspend filming for short period earlier this year while a housemate was suspected of having contracted coronavirus, but the test came back negative.

“One of our crew members had a brush with coronavirus and it actually shut down production for a couple of days before we got the all-clear,” said Kruger.

Unlike all previous seasons of Big Brother, the series has been entirely pre-filmed, with Inside Big Brother confirmed the series wrapped on April 6.

Pop Sugar reports that there will likely be a live finale, with public voting only for the eventual winner.
