Legendary magic duo Penn & Teller are bringing their iconic Las Vegas live show to Australia this year for the first time ever.
In their first time in the country, the pair will perform at the Sydney Opera House from June 1st-11th, before hitting Melbourne’s Arts Centre from June 14th-18th and Queensland Performing Arts Centre from June 22nd-July 3rd.
From humble beginnings busking on the streets of Philadelphia to having one of the longest-running and best-loved headline acts in Las Vegas history, there aren’t many bigger names in magic than Penn & Teller. The lifelong friends – they celebrated 45 years as a professional duo in 2020 – are renowned for their unusual mix of mind-blowing magic tricks and innovative comedy.
Their Las Vegas show at The Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino has won them the Las Vegas Magicians of the Year award an impressive eight times. The Los Angeles Times has called it “the single best show in Vegas”, while Jimmy Fallon has hailed them as the “greatest performing duo in showbiz.”
The duo are already well-known Down Under for their hit TV series Penn & Teller: Fool Us, which airs on ABC iView and ABC TV Plus and sees up-and-coming magicians try and fool the seasoned pros.
“Penn & Teller are the masters of trickery, their razor sharp wit and spot on-chemistry is the stuff of legends. Finally, this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see them in the Opera House is within reach – this will be truly unmissable,” Sydney Opera House Head of Contemporary Performance, Ebony Bott, says about the event.
“I just love Australia. I learned to SCUBA dive in Cairns. I’ve eaten gelato at Circular Quay and enjoyed Shakespeare at the Opera House. I’ve scouted an underwater TV special near Melbourne, I’ve been bug-eyed at MONA and some of my dearest friends live there so it’s about bloody time we brought our show down under, don’t you think? It’s once in a lifetime! See you in winter! … What? It’s winter in June??” Teller adds.

Their Australian tour was originally scheduled for 2020 but was unable to proceed due to COVID-19. Anyone who purchased tickets for those performances have been provided priority access to the new tour dates.
