Pokémon have just made a pretty major gaming announcement.
As per TechCrunch, it was announced at the Pokémon Presents presentation that company’s new game, Pokémon Legends: Arceus is set to be a prequel to the main series.
The forthcoming game supposedly takes place in a much older version of Diamond and Pearl’s Sinnoh region – and most notably, in a time when Pokémon once roamed free.
As per yahoofinance!, while many more of the game’s details are still yet to be announced, the developers have promised that they are striving for more “immersive” mechanics, meaning that as the player of the game, you’ll be able to enter more “seamlessly” into battles.
You’ll also be able to observe the wild Pokémon in their natural habitats.
For any OG trainers who’ve experienced the games on any of the related consoles, the chopping and changing aspects to the gameplay were always a pet peeve.
The time that it took to enter battles, or just to catch them was something that was always dreaded. But on the whole, we never let it stop us from trying to catch ’em all.
While the creators of the Pokémon Go app (that’s dominated the world ever since 2016), certainly streamlined the gameplay, this seems like a new era is undoubtedly on the horizon.
The news also comes in as Pokémon announced that they are gearing up to celebrate their 25th birthday this weekend.
As part of the celebration, Post Malone has been given the call up to headline the virtual gig. The show is slated to be free to stream across a range of platforms including their YouTube channel, Twitch and on their 25th anniversary website.
“The Pokémon team put in so much work – this is one of the coolest things I’ve been a part of.” Malone told Billboard in an interview. “There may be some surprises, too. It’s going to be a lot of fun.”
