Remember that there’s an app for everything kids.

Uber and find my iPhone are two that have been essential to the day to day of many of us of late- and together they can be used for fighting crime in the big city.

ABC has reported that overnight an Adelaide Uber driver had his passenger pull a fast one on him, jumping in the driver seat and speeding off in his black Sedan.

Unfortunately for the thief, the victims iPhone was still sitting in the front seat. Police simply fired up the Find My iPhone app and were able to track down the thief, who was kicking back with a schooner at the Whitehorse Inn Hotel after a hard night’s thieving.

Senior Constable Matt Brown noted that stopping off for a bevvy was “mistake number one”-presumably of a list.

The driver was taken to hospital with grazes on his back after he held on to the door of the car and was dragged across the road.

The alleged thief has been charged with offences including aggravated robbery and illegal use of a motor vehicle, and has been refused bail.

We assume the alleged has also received a lower than average passenger rating.

The story reads like a worst-case scenario that your parents pose to you when you tell them that your thinking of doing some lifts for extra cash.

However, if you’re an Uber driver rest-assured that the app has gone to great lengths to improve safety for workers, so don’t expect to find yourself being dragged on the M4 anytime soon.

You can even opt to not pick up a passenger who’s had a few too many-so feel safe and drive to your hearts content.
