With COVID-19 bringing us all down, at least Nestlé is there to cheer us up, as they’re having the beloved Polly Waffle reboot fast-tracked so we can dive into it’s chocolate-y and wafer-y goodness.
Only recently were we graced with Cadbury returning their coveted Caramilk and Marble varieties, and we’ve currently got San Churro blessing us with ’90s throwback edition churro snack packs.
Now, Nestlé has hopped on the nostalgia train, and is putting their reboot of the delicious Polly Waffle chocolate bar, which we haven’t seen the likes of since it was discontinued in 2009, after a stunning 62 years on shelves.
The discontinuance seemed to occur after Nestlé decided to reinvent the recipe, which led to customers complaining that the “new & improved” chocolate bar had a more sugary, and quite brittle wafer inside.
Since it was discontinued, the public outcry has been quite high, and in 2019 confectioner Robern Menz struck a deal with Nestlé to reboot the iconic bar.
Now, they’ve got fast-tracking approval, and will be pushing through to roll out the delicious, marshmallow-filled bar as part of a push to boost the local manufacturing industry.
The confectionary makers will be receiving a massive $1,000,000 from the Manufacturing Modernisation Fund to start churning these bad boys on the production line.

Worried they’ll get it wrong after fudging up the recipe in 2009? Luckily CEO Phil Sims chatted with 7News that they’re dedicated to the process.
“Polly Waffle is a unique chocolate bar, and although it may sound simple enough – with its combination of chocolate, wafer and marshmallow – it actually requires a number of fairly complicated processes to create,” he said.
So, when will we get to taste the delicious combination of chocolate, marshmallow, and crunchy wafer? It’s set to officially make its return in 2021, meaning that next year is certain to be much better than this year.
