There has been a lot of hysteria surrounding the PS5 release. Or maybe it’s just mainly that royal preorder mistake made by Sony back in September. A classic case of over-promise and underdeliver.

The Playstation 5 is finally set to drop this month on Thursday, November 12th.

And while it seems like it’s been a lifetime since the PS5 was first introduced in 2019, Sony is finally on the home stretch, with an interesting lead-up to the big release day definitely being an understatement.

In classic form, the internet has not slept on the lead-up to the big day, with the latest news surrounding the PS5 coming from none other than Instagram.

At the hands of a very trippy Instagram filter, you’re able to place a digital PS5 box in your photos via the Instagram Stories feature. And stacks of people have been tricked into thinking that the console produced by the filter is real.

Some people have even been led to think that some people out there have received their console early, ahead of its November release date. Now that’s some top-notch augmented reality right there.

And on the day the Instagram filter was brought into the world, one user tweeted, “ Happy national PS5 Instagram filter day.”

The developer behind the filter goes by the Instagram account (or alias), AR On EverythingWhile the AR On Everything Instagram is pretty damn baron, you can see just how incredibly legit the filter makes the PS5 look, thanks to a series of screenshots published on Mashable SE Asia.

The creator shared the filter via an Instagram post with the caption, “The PS5 BOX AR filter took Instagram by storm… I am overwhelmed by the response, I hope it helped to put smile on few faces during these hard times.”

Well, it’s pretty safe to say that they aren’t the only one who’s overwhelmed.
