One of the fathers of modern cinema, Quentin Tarantino, has become a dad for the first time. The 56-year-old filmmaker and his wife, actress Daniella Pick, welcomed their first child over the weekend. The young Tarantino boy was reportedly born in Tel-Aviv on Saturday, though there’s no word yet as to what the baby will be named. If we’re going off Tarantino film references, surely Ezekiel 25:17, Mr Brown and Django are frontrunners.

The news of the baby’s birth follows the couple’s announcement that Pick was pregnant in August 2019. The couple married in late 2018 after reportedly meeting during the production of Tarantino’s 2009 film, Inglorious Basterds. Pick and Tarantino later collaborated on Tarantino’s most recent work, Once Upon A Time…in Hollywood. Pick played Daphna Ben-Cobo in the Oscar-winning film.

A busy 2020 so far

2020 has already been a big year for the Oscar-winning filmmaker. His most recent film, Once Upon a Time…In Hollywood, won two Oscars at the most recent Academy Awards (Best Supporting Actor for Brad Pitt and Best Achievement in Production Design). The film was also Tarantino’s first to be nominated for Best Picture.

Once Upon a Time..In Hollywood is also thought to be Tarantino’s second last film, with the director promising to retire from the art form after making ten films.

“I think when it comes to theatrical movies, I’ve come to the end of the road,” Tarantino told GQ Australia last year. The filmmaker revealed he sees a future writing for other media.

“I see myself writing film books and starting to write theatre, so I’ll still be creative. I just think I’ve given all I have to give to movies.”

Speculations as to what Tarantino’s alleged last film will be has been rife for years. As of yet, no future projects have been confirmed. But with the birth of his son, it’s safe to say he’s got his hands full for now.
