Razer has finally added RGB Chroma lighting to its Hammerhead True Wireless Earbuds, and the result is something special indeed.
For a few years now Razer has steadily been making headway in the earbuds game. And you know what, they’re getting pretty darn good at it too. But one element has been missing from the ears of fans around the globe: RGB Chroma lighting.
Well, friends, get bloody excited because the Razer Hammerhead True Wireless Earbuds (2021) changes everything, and the future is both bright and colourful.
So let’s cut straight to the chase. On the back of each bud you’ll see Razer’s classic logo, and it is here that the Chroma RGB lighting takes centre stage – granting you the opportunity to play around with 16.8 million colours. Yes, using Razer’s own ‘Audio’ and ‘Chroma RGB’ apps you’re free to change the logo to a whole colour-wheel of options, and doing so is seamless, painless and allows for a lot of individuality – even if you can’t set individual buds as individual colours.
Sure you won’t actually be able to enjoy the lights yourself when they’re in your ears, but there’s no denying they look cool in action. We looked in a mirror to make sure. True story.
Design-wise, the new iteration of the Hammerhead True Wireless buds now closely resemble that of Razer’s own Hammerhead True Wireless Pro Earbuds released earlier this year. While I was a fan of those buds during my review, interestingly I found this new set to actually be more comfortable and a better fit. The design of the two buds are almost identical to one another, so there’s no real explanation of why that would be the case outside of black magic, but I can’t deny it so the point stands!
Also similar to the Pros you’ll get Active Noise Cancellation tech and a 60ms low latency gaming mode for those who’ve jumped on the mobile game bandwagon. While you’ll lack some of the fancier audio features, it is worth noting that the Hammerhead True Wireless (2021) buds will be kinder on your wallet as well, coming in at an RRP of $199.95.

At the end of the day, if you’re after some ear buds that exude pure style, there is absolutely no competition. The RGB lighting is swish as hell while the actual buds deliver decent bang and bass for your buck. If we have one complaint it’s that the touch controls (that can pause your music, skip tracks, etc) can often feel incredibly touchy, but outside of that Razer is proving to be a real force in the earbud game.
