Rebel Wilson has opened up about her recent weight loss on the air. She revealed something in particular. And if we’re being honest, it’s a real let down.

Throwing it back to last year, Rebel Wilson began documenting her weight loss journey via Instagram.

Throughout 2020, she kept her followers up to date with her eating and exercise regime, allowing everyone to be on the journey with her in a way.

Recently Wilson jumped on air to have a chat on The Morning Crew with Hughesy, Ed and Erin, where she explained that people have been treating her differently after her weight loss.

She said, “I think what’s been really interesting to me is how other people treat you. Sometimes being bigger, people didn’t necessarily look twice at you.”

Wilson added, “And now that I’m in a good shape, like, people offer to carry my groceries to the car and hold doors open for you. I was like, ‘Is this what other people experienced all the time?'”

A pretty poor reflection on how shallow society can be, hey?

The conversation follows up to an interview Wilson did with The Sun, where she revealed that she was paid by studio executives to “stay bigger” for particular film roles.

She said, “It’s not like I want to lose weight and get to around a certain number. It’s more than that, it’s about dealing mentally with with why I was overeating and I had a job where I was paid a lot of money to be bigger, at times which kind of can mess with your head a bit.”

Wilson’s experience speaks to the larger conversation on agency and women’s bodies.

If we can derive a message from this, it’s that we need to continue to push to be responsible for our own bodies. And that the most important thing is our health and our happiness.

Moving on, Wilson is gearing up for the premiere of Pooch Perfect with the show debuting in March.

Wilson is set to be the host of the show which features Australia’s best dog groomers competing in challenges to win a cash prize.
