Today, the Red Dead Online Beta has unveiled its first bundle of updates. These updates come in the form of new gameplay, changing how bounties work, fixing numerous bugs and heap of other cool shit. Let’s break it all down.
New Gameplay
Players will be able to earn Gold Nuggets and XP for completing Daily Challenges. These challenges cover “everything from skinning animals to finding treasure, winning feuds and more.”
From next week, you’ll be able to compete with rival teams and Posses in the new Free Roam Event Fool’s Gold. The challenge will see players battle it out to earn the right to wear a protective suit of gold armour. “Take down the current wearer to earn the armour and points, then turn the tables and rack up kills against the opposition.”
Introducing Target Races, here you’ll be able to show off your impressive highwayman skills as you race other players on horseback to hit targets with speed and accuracy.
Now, my personal favourite challenge, the Fishing Challenges. It’s like Animal Crossing but a little more yeehaw. These challenges will see players hitting the river’s edge to take on their rivals by reeling in the big boys. The object of the challenge is to catch the highest total weight of fish.
RDR will also be introducing three new Showdown Modes where players and teams will compete to capture bags, steal loot from each other and survive. These new modes are called “Up in Smoke”, “Spoils of War” and Plunder, Rockstar have plans to announce more details in the coming days.
New Weapons
All I wanna do is (gunshot, gunshot, gunshot, gunshot) And a (click, ka-ching). From today you’ll have the chance to possess the Rare Shotgun, a gorgeously engraved, brass version of the double-barrelled longarm. Keep your eyes peeled for the Evans Repeater, a high capacity rifle that is sure to offer devastating blows, this one will be available soon. Both these bad boys will be available via the Wheeler & Rawson Catalogue and from local Gunsmiths.
New Clothing
Passion for fashion. Under no circumstances should you let yourself get caught in last-seasons assless chaps. Rockstar has released a range of new Outfits, Boots, Coats, Gloves, Hats, Vests and heaps more.
New Emotes
I’m expressing with my full capabilities. These full capabilities include new reactions, greets and taunts.
World Enhancements
Updated Player Radar and Visibility: Rockstar has reduced the visibility of players blips over longer distances. This means that your location won’t display to other people unless you are nearby. So how does this benefit you? Well it minimizes your chances of being targeted across the map by more aggressive competitors.
Easier Parley and Feuds: You’ll now be able to turn petty quarrels with other players into full-blown deathmatches. Easy to trigger Feuds can be initiated against your rival and their posse after a single kill.
Enhanced Law and Bounty System: If you’re a natural troublemaker and stir up enough mischief to earn a high bounty, you’ll increase your chances of NPC Bounty Hunters attempting to catch you. The higher your bounty gets, the more persistent them pesky hunters will be.
