Rick And Morty has truly taken over as a pop culture phenomenon. If you haven’t yet caught the first three seasons of the animated series, you’ve probably been swept up in a world of references and in-jokes that seem to go over your heads as friends revel in their hilarity.
For those who are late to jump on the bandwagon, you may have a little time to catch up on the first three seasons of quirk drenched humour, with show creators Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland revealing the next season won’t air until at least 2019.
Chatting with The Detroit Podcast in December, the two writers said that they were ready to “really take their time” on the shows next season. They also highlighted confusion regarding powers who control the show’s creation and the time it takes for them to “get their shit together”.
“I never understood why everybody — all parties, Dan, Justin, and Adult Swim — didn’t get their shit together and make the show fast,” Ridley said. “I just don’t get it. It doesn’t make any sense to me. I’m sure they all have their reasons.”

Considering most Rick And Morty fans would’ve binged the third season multiple times this point, this will probably pan out to be a bit of a tedious break. Ridley also pointed out that the script for season three was completed by November 2016, not seeing a premiere until April 2017. This wait will surpass the 18 month period fans faced when waiting for the season three premiere last year.
