Australian authorities are growing desperate for any information pertaining to the whereabouts of missing Omani student Aaisha Al Ghaithi, who was in Australia studying at the University Of Queensland. The 28-year-old was last seen on June 26, with no sign of her since.

Aaisha was last seen at the university’s St Lucia campus on June 26th around 8am and while she was reported to have taken a break between semesters, Aaisha classes reconvened a week ago. In that time she has failed to contact the university, her family or the Omani consulate who are escalating their drive for public help to find Aaisha.

Queensland Police have released a statement, explaining, “Aisha had previously been living in Brisbane CBD accommodation but left in February 2019. She has not made any contact with family and police and her family hold concerns for her welfare as she has a medical condition.”

Aaisha’s family have said the lack of contact is unlike their daughter. Aaisha is described as is 165cm tall with brown eyes and a slim build.

Any theories that Aasiha had returned home, or left the country, were shut down with confirmation that she hasn’t left Australia. The Omani consulate released a statement following the update.

“[Aaisha} is still being sought in coordination with Australian police and relevant authorities. In the morning, we received confirmation from the Immigration Service that the student did not leave Australia.”

“The Consulate wishes to emphasise that the safety of the student is now a priority.” The Ministry stated, “We ask everyone not to spread rumours and take news from the Consulate General of Oman in Australia, which will provide the latest updates on the investigation.”

Queensland Police urge anyone with any information that could lead to discovering Aaisha’s whereabouts to contact them on 131 444.
