Life in plastic, it’s fantastic! Ryan Gosling is reportedly set to star as the Ken to Margot Robbie’s Barbie in an upcoming Greta Gerwig film.

As reported by Deadline, Ryan Gosling is in final negotiations to play the iconic character in a movie centred around the Barbie doll collection.

Source told Deadline that while Gosling originally turned down the role due to scheduling conflicts, production delays have led him to have a change of heart. The film is now expected to begin shooting early next year.

Although plot details remain unknown at this time, it’s safe to assume that it won’t be a typical Barbie flick, given that Gerwig usually takes on more adult and indie projects.

While Gerwig will serve as director, Robbie is producing the film under her LuckyChap Entertainment production banner, which has produced critically acclaimed films like I, Tonya and Promising Young Woman.

The film comes in what has been a busy time for Robbie, who began shooting a supporting role in an upcoming Wes Anderson movie in August.

On top of that, she recently wrapped shooting on Oscar-winning director Damien Chazelle’s latest film Babylon, which will see her reunite with her Once Upon a Time in Hollywood co-star Brad Pitt.
