The internet is mostly full of terrible, awful things, but in that darkness sometimes comes divine light. A new Twitter account has emerged that embodies every single good quality the internet has to offer, enter Sad Drunk Dude With Music.
The account stays true to its namesake, it posts the same video of one, extremely sad dude listening to music but overlaps the footage with our favourite cult crying songs.
It is a concept that resonates with the human condition. We’ve all been that guy, the one that downloads Bumble during a vertex of loneliness only to delete it an hour later after realising that all men are awful. The one that responds to this realisation by hot-footing it to the closest offy to drown our misery in an $18 bottle of tempranillo so that we can email our English teachers to tell them how formative their guidance was in our early years, only to emerge, head from the toilet, crying to Frightened Rabbit.
Finding gacked comfort in sad music is a universal experience, and this account captures that experience in a series of 18-second videos.
There is a video for all walks of life if you’re the kind of music listener that finds songs to wallow to by searching “Sad Songs” in the Spotify playlist algorithm, perhaps you’ll be affected by the silky, golden imagery of Sad Drunk Dude With Music crying to Hozier’s ‘Take Me To Church.’
