Nick Gardner of San Cisco is a country boy at heart, and right before they set off for a tour of the US, he decided to put his feet up and relax on his friend’s farm in Western Australia.

The bassist and his mate were taking care of some pest control on the farm, which is 100kms east of Collie in WA, when a gun accidentally went off in the car.

The incident has been laid out in more detail in a statement by Garner. He explains: “We were driving through an exceptionally rough paddock, I reached down to stop the gun from bouncing around and before I knew it, it had gone off … Somewhat of a freak accident. IrealisedI had been shot and ripped off my boot and sock to reveal a hole in my foot and blood everywhere. Isaac, my mate, quickly got his first aid kit and bandaged it up. He then started driving towards the nearest hospital, which was 100kms away.”

“I passed out in shock and came to shaking and being yelled at. By the time we got to the hospital I was calm, but in excruciating pain. The doctors got morphine into me and put me in an ambulance headed for a bigger hospital. I eventually made it to the Perth hospital wherea specialist has done a great job putting my foot back together.”

If you’re not too squeamish, you can take a look at the injury right here.

Garner is thankfully going to make a completely recovery, but unfortunately won’t be joining the band on their tour of America. Hopefully he stays away from the farm and will join them safely on their Australian tour and Groovin The Moo appearances.

San Cisco’s new album Gracetown comes out on Friday March 6. They’ll play the Enmore Theatre on Saturday May 30.
