If you didn’t already know, Serena Williams is the most successful active tennis player in the world. She boasts over 35 grand slam wins across singles, doubles, and mixed doubles, and has spent a combined total of 319 weeks as the number one Female tennis player. Now in partnership with the I Touch Myself Project, the sporting great has released a version of the Divinyls hit “I Touch Myself”.

The cover and video have been created to raise awareness of regular checking for breast cancer during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The video was created alongside Breast Cancer Network Australia, Berlei, and the I Touch Myself Project. Williams has been a supporter of the project since it began in 2014 after the death of Divinyls lead singer Chrissie Amphlett.

In the comments below the video, Williams wrote “Yes, this put me out of my comfort zone, but I wanted to do it because it’s an issue that affects all women of all colours, all around the world. Early detection is key – it saves so many lives. I just hope this helps to remind women of that.”

In 2014, the I Touch Myself Project launched after Chrissy Amphlett passed away from breast cancer. A video featuring ten of Australia’s greatest female singers including Megan Washington, Olivia Newton-John, and Connie Mitchell performing the track launched the project. Before her passing, Amphlett shared her wish to have the Divinyls’ track reincarnated as an anthem for breast health around the world.
