Coca-Cola is on the hunt for regular joe Australians to feature in a televised commercial for their forthcoming Share A Coke campaign.
Coke is set to launch up to 170 ads that will be broadcasted on a number of platforms, so if you were wanting a silly little bit of five-minute fame for your parents to fawn over this is for you.
The soda monoliths are hosting an open casting where they’re asking Aussies like you and I to film a 10-second giving a shout out to a friend they’d like to share a coke with this summer.
Coca-Cola has, of course, found a way to swindle money out of the public with the campaign. The video requires participants to include a can or bottle of the mysterious effervescent beverage from this years campaign. This year Coke has introduced a bunch of new pet names into the fold, ranging from the sickly (babe, beau, lover, hun, bub, honeybun, sweetheart and sweetie-pie.) to the painfully Australiana (Macca, Shazza, Deano, Champ, Squad, Legend.)
“Forget actors and actresses or models and celebrities, this summer our Coke ads are all about everyday Aussies,” Coca-Cola Australia’s marketing director Lucie Austin shared in a statement.
“We want to give people a chance to give a shout out on national TV to anyone they think deserves one.
“It might be a shout out to a Legend frontline health worker, a thanks to your mate or your Mum who have been there for you this year or saying cheers to your True Blue local barista.
“This is all about giving people the opportunity to have some fun and share some love after what has been a really tough year.”
In other news, last month Coca-Cola unveiled their 2020 Christmas commercial, directed by none other than Oscar-winner Taika Waititi. Check it out here.
