Back in the pre-iPhone days, we actually had to remember phone numbers. The ability to remember 8-10 digits seems impressive in 2017 given that people are getting dumberer, but for us it was just a fact of life. Given that everybody makes mistakes, you could very easily call the wrong person.
You would think that a normal activity in today’s day and age, like harassing someone you’ve never met online, would be relatively easy. Ideally, the insults would be targeted and effective. Unfortunately, sometimes assumptions are made, and we end up in this amazing predicament where a stranger starts receiving death threats intended for another person.
That’s exactly what happened to Jon Jones, who shares his name with a UFC fighter recently found to be doping. As a result, a white self-proclaimed ‘tech geek and cat fancier’ with purple hair started receiving insanely high amounts of abuse intended for an African American PED-abusing athlete.
The responses by the wrong Jon Jones to embittered members of the MMA-loving public are absolutely golden. Luckily for us, the tech geek has lived up to his title and strted a tumblr page documenting these interactions.
