Actor Francis ‘Frankie’ Mossman, best known for his work on Shortland Street, has passed away. He was 33.
The death of the New Zealand-born actor was confirmed by Queer Screen Australia, over the weekend.
“Queer Screen was saddened to hear of the passing of actor, Frankie Mossman,” a Facebook post read. “Frankie was a great friend of Queer Screen, starring in our MGFF16 trailer and was always an enthusiastic audience member at our festivals. Our sincere condolences to all his friends and family. May he Rest In Peace.”
Alongside his work on Francis Mossman appeared in the New Zealand kids’ series Amazing Extraordinary Friends, The Horizon, Ruben Guthrie and Spartacus: Vengeance.
In the wake of his death, tributes from the LGBTQI+ community have poured out on social media. “RIP Francis Mossman. We miss you and know your smile will light up the sky. ❤️❤️❤️,” The Stonewall Hotel wrote.
“The world has lost a truly wonderful person and talent. Francis gave it all on set, always professional and prepared, with fantastic energy,” the official account for The Horizon wrote. “Francis gave it all on set, always professional and prepared, with fantastic energy.”
“Sweet Frankie. I’m so sorry to hear this news,” wrote Courtney Act.
