Last year’s season of The Bachelorette made history by casting Brooke Blurton as Australia’s first openly bisexual, First Nations lead on the dating show.

This year’s season of The Bachelor is touting itself as equally ground-breaking, casting not one, not two, but three white men in the titular role (!).

“Roses are red. Violets are blue. When it comes to bachelors, we have a few,” the show’s press release announced.

Felix Van Hofe, Jed McIntosh and Thomas Malucelli will front the 10th anniversary season of the show, which will be filmed on the Gold Coast in a $2.8 million waterfront mansion instead of the show’s usual Sydney location.

McIntosh, the youngest of the trio, is already drawing comparisons to Machine Gun Kelly.

Indeed, the 25-year-old is a drummer, who has been playing professionally since the age of 13.

A bio on the Big Sound Productions web site said McIntosh was the drummer for alt-pop band Mood Munroe. He began touring at age 16, and soon found himself in Los Angeles, working with a range of up and coming artists.

He has also reportedly worked with Kylie Minogue, Pharrell Williams, T-Pain and Sean Paul.

Unfortunately, the Melbourne muso’s career and aesthetic may not be the only comparison to the blonde rapper-turned-rocker, who made creepy comments about an underage Kendall Jenner in 2013.

As reported by So Dramatic today, a series of disturbing Facebook posts have resurfaced on Twitter since McIntosh’s announcement on the Bachelor franchise.

“When you’re too young to use ‘edgy’ tattoos to fool people into thinking you’re not a white misogynist,” one post captioned a photo of a young McIntosh.

“What a catch” read another, alongside photos taken from McIntosh’s Facebook up to 11 years ago.

In one heavily redacted screenshot, the drummer says he and another person “are gonna rape yas [sic].” He then warns, “so watch out because theres a storm coming kids ;).”

They have also uploaded evidence of other misogynistic comments made by a then-teenaged McIntosh, including one where he admits to “having a perve” on one of his school teachers. In another, he says he wants to “smash some pussy.”

There’s also an old photo of McIntosh, captioned, “Before you’ve looked up on Pinterest how to dress like MGK.”

The show’s press release describes McIntosh as a “sensitive” man looking for a woman who is “confident, passionate, empathetic, and ready to commit.”

“A woman willing to find love on a public platform is the confidence I need in a partner,” they quote him as saying.

Fans of the show have been expressing their disappointment in the show’s lack of diversity this season.

One post read: “the bachelor australia: we are gonna shake things up this year!!! also the bachelor australia: TRIPLE THE AMOUNT OF WHITE MEN”.

“The Bachelor Australia: We hear you. Also The Bachelor Australia: Here’s three times the white, enjoy!” read another.
