An offensive advertisement that appeared on Snapchat last week, asking whether users would rather slap Rihanna or punch Chris Brown, has seen the company’s stock plummet by 800 million dollars overnight.

The ad is question was for a mobile game ‘Would You Rather’, and although the company quickly issued an apology calling the ad “disgusting”, stressing they were “investigating how that happened so that we can make sure it never happens again”, Rihanna wasn’t having any of it, calling the company out on Instagram for their appalling decision.

“Now SNAPCHAT I know you already know you ain’t my fav app out there! But I’m just trying to figure out what the point was with this mess!”

“I’d love to call it ignorance but I know you ain’t that dumb. You spent money to animate something that would intentionally bring shame to DV victims and made a joke of it.

“Shame on you.”

As CNN points out, Snapchat’s ad policy states all adverts that appear on the platform are “subject to our review and policy” and cannot depict “excessive violence.”
