I can’t overstate just how much I’ve enjoyed this period of forced isolation, but there is a depraved part of my soul that yearns for sinking a schooner in the company of dogs at The Courthouse in Newtown. Thankfully, this primal desire will soon become a reality. Sydney hospitality giants The Solotel Group has announced that fourteen of their beloved venues will open on Monday, June 1st.

The announcement comes following the NSW Government’s decision to allow pubs, bars, restaurants and cafes to open to 50 people as long as social distancing and capacity laws are followed.

“We’re thrilled to be reopening some of our venues and welcoming back our staff following the successful launch of our take away offerings at Public House Petersham, North Bondi Fish,” shared Justine Baker, Solotel Group CEO.

“It’s been a challenging couple of months for everyone and I’m so happy that we can open our doors to the communities we love. At the same time, we acknowledge this is a small step in our rebuild which we believe will take some time and are looking forward to being able to reopen more of our venues when further restrictions ease.”

The venues which will open from Monday are:

  • The Marlborough Hotel (Newtown)
  • The Regent Hotel (Kingsford)
  • The Sackville Hotel (Rozelle)
  • The Clock Hotel (Surry Hills)
  • The Bank Hotel (Newtown)
  • The Cafe at the Art Gallery of NSW (The Domain, Sydney)
  • The Golden Sheaf Hotel (Double Bay)
  • The Albion Hotel (Parramatta)
  • The Bridgeview Hotel (Willoughby)
  • Public House Petersham (Petersham)
  • The Courthouse Hotel (Newtown)
  • The Erko (Erskineville)
  • North Bondi Fish (North Bondi)
  • Chiswick Restaurant (Woollahra)

It’s truly going to be a renaissance of awkwardly pretending you’re suffering from loss of your peripheral vision when you inevitably run into the ghost of Tinder dates past. Salut and solidarity sisters.
