Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is just a few weeks away from release now, and to celebrate Microsoft is giving away a very peculiar pair of custom Xbox Series S controllers.

A collaboration between Xbox and Paramount has birthed unquestionably the furriest gaming controllers to ever exist: “We might need glasses because these controllers look fuzzy,” as Xbox joked while introducing the Sonic the Hedgehog 2 themed Xbox and pair of limited edition controllers.

The customised black console features a shiny golden portal ring above the Sonic the Hedgehog 2 logo. The controllers come in Sonic Blue and Knuckles Red, and their textured coatings are supposed to be reminiscent of the “bristly” texture of actual hedgehogs in the wild. Furry, bristly, it’s all the same. Imagine the frustration at getting tickled by your own controller during a tense part of a game though.

There are currently no plans for a full release, so you’ll have to have the speed of Sonic if you want to get your hands on these fuzzy creations. The exclusive custom console and controllers are only up for grabs via two ways.

You can either retweet the official Xbox sweepstakes tweet above and include the hashtag #XboxSonic2Sweepstakes, or redeem Microsoft Rewards points if you’re a fan in the U.S..

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is set to arrive in cinemas on April 8th. Ben Schwartz returns as the titular hero, with Idris Elba also back as the villainous Knuckles. The film follows Sonic and Tails (Colleen O’Shaughnessey) as they try to stop Doctor Eggman (Jim Carrey) and Knuckles from finding the Master Emerald.

A third film in the franchise is already in the works, as well as a spinoff series focusing on Elba’s Knuckles.
